La historia se presenta como un retrato fragmentado de un momento, una persona y un lugar, visto desde las perspectivas subjetivas de dos personajes: Imani, una joven negra, y David, un oficial de policía novato. Ambos tienen recuerdos muy diferentes del mismo momento fatídico que alterará sus vidas para siempre.
