Artúr, a britek királya azt a feladatot kapja Istentől, hogy kutassa fel a Szent Grált. Egy ilyen nagyságrendű feladat komoly munkát igényel, ezért maga köré gyűjti Albion tökös lovagjait, Sir Bedevere-t, a tudóst, a szűzies Sir Galahadot, a bátor Sir Lancelotot és Sir Robint, aki nem annyira bátor, mint Sir Lancelot. A Kerekasztal lovagjai elindulnak hát, hogy sok-sok kalandot átvészelve begyűjtsék a menő poharat.
