The Care Bears - Season 0 Episode 1 The Land Without Feelings
A young boy runs away from home. He is met by evil Cold Heart, who turns him into a creppy toad-thing (seeing the transition from boy to creature is pretty scary for younger children). The Care Bears must save the boy before it's too late and everyone is turned into uncaring toad-things.
